Trotley

The one who has to know

Trotley

Knows every bit of his farm. Now he wants to know what's past it.

Trotley, a young horse with brown patches and a black bandana with white dots, smiling with one hoof up.

Trotley is a young horse with a golden coat, brown patches, big blue eyes and a black bandana with white dots that he always wears. He knows every corner of his farm: the little bridge that goes CLONK, the gravel that goes CRUNCH, the hay that goes FWISH.

But knowing isn't enough. A knock behind the barn? A path he's never tried? A hill with something on the other side? Every question needs an answer, and Trotley wants to be the one who finds it. “Look what I found!”

Sometimes he loves an idea so much that he believes it before he checks. Maybe there's a tiny door! And when the truth turns out to be different, he doesn't mind one bit. He just grins: “Ohhh… even better!”

You might be a little like Trotley if…

  • …you always want to know what's around the corner.
  • …you ask “Why?”… and then “Why?” again.
  • …you say “Just one more!” when it's time to stop.

For grown-ups

Trotley is the friend who can't walk past a question. When an idea is too exciting to wait for, he runs ahead of the facts, and the truth often turns out even better. His curiosity takes him somewhere new, and his friends are right there with him.

Read together, then ask: What would you go and look for, if you were Trotley?
